 Grrr. One of my fave websites,Worlds Without End has been playing up for a while. When you log in all you see in an ''internal error 500'' message. Over on the SF group forum on LT someone said clear all your caches and cookies for it to work. Cue hopelessly clueless- about- tech -Dusty struggling to get on site. Finally managed it for one session. But that caused me to have to log in every time for all my fave sites - and I use a LOT of sites, some quite old, with rather old passwords which i had to experiment with to get in. Was too irritated to go through all the palaver of changing passwords, but I am going to have to!:) : so that was a pain till the cookies etc refilled. Then of courseWWEnd disappeared again:mad::mad::mad:
More advice from LT,someone said try Opera as a browser. She keeps it just for WWEnd,and clears history etc after every session. The admin of WWEnd is justly furious about the mess and may have to leave his server or whatever, but it could cause some people to give up on the site, which would be a shame, its a great resource for us science fiction nerds :(
Anyhoo,I am doing this post on my newly downloaded Opera browser, and so far so good,WWEnd loaded up quick as a flash. Whether it will do so tomorrow though is in the lap of the gods.:D
Cant find anything on here yet,but I can believe the word that Opera is excellent for those with slower, poorer connections,it certainly seems speedy to me:T.
One thing that has annoyed me a bit though is the ''speed dial''.Peeped in,and on speed dial are Amazon,Amazon Prime,Argos,Ali Baba,Ebay, and Booking, com. So not what I would have on speed dial,I want MSE,LibraryThing.and family history - shopping not so much.:rotfl:Still trying to find a way to remove them from there, but cant see a way:mad:
But first opinion of Opera quite favourable.

WOW! Just noticed, the statistics say there are 8472 people on line here. Wonder if that actually means right now,at this minute,or its the total number over the day? Either way this is one seriously busy website. Martin should be proud of his work!
Off now because Mr Dusty is taking over the TV,I am going to attempt to read a bit, before starting supper. Salmon for him,the rest of my pot of mixed veg for me.
Will close down Opera, and then try again later to see if WWEnd appears!

Went back to Opera before bed,and sure enough got the internal error message till I removed all cache and cookies, then it worked.WWEnd are really struggling, they have tried allsorts, but clearing cookies everytime is the only thing that works and chrome and Opera are the best browsers for using the site.. Annoying when we are so used to clicking straight on these days, having the rimarole of clearing cache evrytime we use WWEnd:(:(!

Ooops, completely forgot the man was coming to do the annual gas service so there we were eating breakfast, place a tip, sink full of dishes, and things in the way of the board covering the boiler. Very embarrassing,I usually prepare everything, beforehand, and even remove the board hiding the boiler wiring etc,and move the TV out of the way so he can get at the meter. My brain just doesnt work these days.th boiler is 8 years old now,and this year he seemed to spend a lot longer than usual on it.

Ordered our usual medication, but I have asked if I can go back on to Feldene,a piroxicam based ant inflammatory. I dont want the strong painkillers, they mess with my head for some reason.but Feldene gel can be a fairly effective medication when rubbed into my aching hands. Certainly need something at the moment. You would think the heatwave would be a bit help, but not much at the moment - or maybe it is ameliorating the ricketty hands and without it the hands would be worse,so we'll count it as a blessing.or ''could be worse''.:D

Will go to do the second £10 spend at the Icel@and on the Hill this afternoon, towards a £5 bonus.Frugality and exercise combined. Hope it doesnt pour again like yesterday.

Dusty, just a thought regarding using your hands for the computer. You've probably already tried it but would it be easier to use a rubber tipped pencil to hit the keys rather than your fingers? X
    I Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.

happiness isn't achieved by getting extra things,
but by getting rid of the things that make you unhappy

Hi Chrystal, thanks for your advice,I am trying out this post using a pencil in my right hand, and its rather nifty really, and possibly quicker than my one fingered typing!:D The space bar can tend not to work, and some letters dont appear, but its not too bad. I tried using the pencil at the angle you would hold a soup spoon, but after a couple of minutes I could feel some stress in the 3rd finger joint. However if I hold the pencil vertically its not so bad, though the wrist could ache. It could certainly be helpful when the the two outer fingers are curled under and get in the way. Thanks for the tip. Not sure what the tribe would think about it,but theythey already think I'm weird:rotfl::rotfl:

Got some Feldene,a piroxicam anti inflammatory ointment, and have been slathering it on my hand all day,and can already feel the difference, the fingers aren't quite so curled up.:j:j
Better not do too much posting to undo the good work!
Went to do my second shop towards a £5 bonus at Icel@nd today,it was very windy but nice and sunny,I enjoyed the exercise. Now it is going dark, looks like rain, and I hear thunder rumbling in the distance.
Tomorrow I have an appointment to see the doc about my thyroid test results. Yet another different doctor because I always ask for as early a date as possible. If you want your own supposedly personal doctor you could wait 7 or 8 days. And if you stipulate a very popular lady doctor, who is so nice, sympathetic and caring,it could be 28 days!.No wonder no less than 128 patients didnt turn up for appointments last month. In 8 days you are either recovered,in hospital, or dead:rotfl::rotfl:

    :rotfl: Hahaha!

Hope your website is working a bit better now? If deleting cookies etc. is a faff with all your passwords you could run two different browsers. One with all your other websites and passwords saved and the other one just for Worlds Without End.

Oh, actually scrap that ... can see you've already tried it. My heads all foggy and I must have missed that :o

Just tried out the built in dictation function on Google Docs and it got what I was saying down to a T. You can say "new line" and "comma" and stuff as well so you can punctuate it how you like and everything.

I would say if you have any free time (not likely ;) )you should give it a bash if typing is proving too troublesome (good ide marks88man!) You could dictate your MSE posts in a word processor then copy and paste. Mr. Dusty may give you some funny looks though if he's in the room!

I'm just very keen to keep you around haha :rotfl:

Well,I'm still here! The hand pain has subsided quite a bit,as happens with these arthritis flareups. Instead of my right little finger in particular giving me gyp, instead for some reason, perhaps overdoing the exercise yesterday,my left little toe was killing me all night.:D Very little sleep. What a life!
Went to the doc about my thyroid results today, mixed, rather confusing results. My TSH(thyroid stimulating hormone) squeaked inside the normal range,4.41. 4.5and above is classed as raised. But this is much lower than last year when it was 5.6,so thats good.T4 is higher, optimal 5-11,mine 12.6,but not super bad. But my antibodies were very very high optimal level 0-35,with the lower the better. Mine were aswingeing 56.:eek:
All in all I have some sort of inflammatory thyroid problems but the situation is mixed, swinging from hypo to hyper thyroid symptoms. Actually this is a good thing,as diet ,supplements etc can bring down the inflammation to ease matters. They are keeping me off the thyroxin for at least another 6 months, and I will do my best to try to get my stupid autoimmune system to stop attacking itself. First off out goes the bread,I know just how bad it is for me,causing bloating, water retention, nasal dripetc etc etc. I just love the stuff, but it doesnt love me.:(:(
The doc was dismissive when I told him all of a sudden early in the year I couldnt lose weight at all,he said the thyroid had nothing to do with that. Not what almost everyone online says,so I am a bit daunted.so I will have to do more research on diet for inflammation on google, see if I can find something that will work.Even only 1 lb a month would be good after 6 months struggling and putting on 12 lbs!:eek:
Back to hard slog losing weight. I dont want to significantly lower calories and be miserable,so I need to put on my thinking cap about what regime to follow.

Your doctor is talking rubbish and needs to read up on underactive thyroid symptoms. There is a website called Thyroid U.K. (I think) used to be run by a Lynn Mynott who can answer all your questions.
All that clutter used to be money
