transferring photos from external drive to icloud

Is this possible? If so, is it complicated?
I have a lot of photos on various sticks/external drives and have now opened an icloud account and was hoping to be able to keep all the photos on the cloud but, I'm struggling.

I have worked out how to transfer from my phone but not from other devices.

Am I wasting my time?

That sounds interesting, thanks, but I will persevere for the moment with using icloud.

Have you googled how to upload photos to icloud from pc ?
Or looked in youtube for videos for the process.

Should be easy to do, you login to your icloud account and choose to upload the photos of your choice.

Im not an icloud user myself but I use Google drive.

The iCloud app for Windows PC maintains a download and an upload folder. Any pictures taken on my iPhone appear in the download folder automatically. I'm assuming anything copied into the upload folder will just appear in the phones album.
