Driftwood wood stain

Can anyone help please?
I have searched for a wood stain that looks like driftwood but no luck.
It will be staining pine wood

Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

I think you'll be lucky. The look driftwood has is from the removal of colour, natural oils from the wood, and abrasion rather than the addition of anything.
The only thing I can think of is wood bleach to remove any colour. You could then try mixing up a sort of dirty grey coloured water based paint, painting it on, and wiping off hard before it's dry. Try it on scrap first though, not on the main job.
I think you're going to have to experiment.
  • Thank you Jackmydad. I will have a go and see how it works.
Would never had known this, so thank you

You're welcome. No guarantees mind! :) It's somewhere to start though.
I've used the same sort of technique several times with pine things I've made. It gives a sort of "wash" in the grain. You'll probably want to whack a coat of clear acrylic varnish or sanding sealer on there after to seal it.

Would liming wax help? It'd give you that white 'salty' look, but you'd probably have to bleach or stain the wood too to get a decent effect.

Clear varnish mixed with wood ash, try a few different mixes until you get the look you're after
Some people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!
