Amazon ( praise, vent and warning!)

I ordered an item from the UK site before Christmas and was given delivery estimate which was put back 10 days on the day delivery should have happened. Site stated to contact them if item wasn't received by revised date.

I thought this was a little strange so contacted Amazon through chat and was assured that the courier had item but it couldn't leave UK due to bad weather. Delivery charges refunded. Next day, order cancelled, refund in 5-7 days.

Contacted Amazon again via email, they apologised and offered free express delivery if I reordered item.

So;
Praise: Amazon offered a generous solution and no harm was done.
Vent: Information from the chat staff turned out to be completely inaccurate - the courier rejected item because it was damaged.
Warning: If an Amazon delivery date is delayed, chase them up as item may be lost.

Overall a positive experience but may have turned out differently!

    What evidence do you have that the "Amazon Chat staff told a complete lie". Just because someone gives you info that turns out to be incorrect doesn't mean they deliberately lied to you!

    I didn't say it was deliberate, perhaps misinformation would have been a better word to use than lie. I think the staff member is blameless. However, I don't think it's particularly professional for a company to tell you that the courier definitely have your package only to say 12 hours later they rejected it.

    Far easier just to say they will investigate the situation, although that would probably annoy other people.

    By definition a lie is a deliberate act. At the end of the day they probably just told you what they knew at the time of asking.

    You're right, I have edited my original post. They can't have 'known' what they told me as it was inaccurate, but I believe they were trying to be helpful.
