It's depends on circumstances. For WRAG it depends when you first applied.0 -
I worked out the other day that £368 week was possible on ESA
£114.85
£22.80
£36.55
£69.90
£124
And there might be more possible than that with a pensioner premium0 -

I am on the contribution based version of esa in the support group (worked full time & paid national insurance stamps) and only receive £109.65.
Why is the person who has possibly not worked, or worked a few hours, and not paid national insurance stamp receive a higher rate?0 -

It just appears that people who get means tested esa get more for, in only some cases, not having worked or paid national insurance stamps.
Why do those who have not worked appear to be better off than those who have worked all their life? E.g. Free rent, spectacles etc, etc
Any reason?0 -
Two people on CB ESA + pensions will get more than a couple on an IB ESA claim. You'd be entitled to an income based top up if, as a household, your income is below the income based amount.0

I didn't realise there was such a big difference on esa especially in some cases to a person who has never paid national insurance stamps or not enough.
Why are they rewarded with increased benefit against another who has contributed in the workplace? There surely must be a reason.

skcollobcat,
Hi,
As to why the government are not more generous than they are already to conts claimants you'd have to ask the government, but they are quite generous to Conts claimants on ESA
* £85 disregard per week on Pension income, anything over that a 50% disregard.
* Claim is not affected by other income such as rent from another property, or employers sick pay or a health insurance policy
* Not affected by savings or other assets like other property.
Any of the above could easily wipe out a ESA IR claim all together. But the Conts claimant continues to get their £109 per week, and if there are 2 of them £218 per week between them, which is more than most ESA IR claimants get for two people.
And if a Conts claimant want ESA IR as well to get the premiums on offer they can claim if they want to.0
