Car rental for new drivers

  • Just want to share my bad experience with Enterprise Rent a Car and Enterprise Car Club. I am a 44 year old newly qualified driver living and working in London, UK. I googled "car hires" for newly qualified drivers with flexibility to pick up and drop cars and found Enterprise Car Club to be a good option. I filled their application online and call them up. They said that you have to take your driving license physically to their centre and get it verified and they gave me an address near my workplace in London (near Tower Bridge Central London) where I need to go. I did the same but when I reached their centre they said they cannot verify my license as it is very new and even if they did, it will most likely get rejected from their back-end team. While I was furious, I had no option but to return back. After about one week of this incidence I got a call from their call-centre that I haven't gotten my license verified yet !! I told them that I went to get it verified to their centre but was sent back. They put me on long hold and then came back to say that there must have been some mistake !! They requested me to go again to ANY Enterprise Rent a Car centre to get my license verified again and told me that if this time I face any problem then pls ask the staff at centre to call their customer care number. This time I asked for their centre address near my home (Hounslow, London). They gave me one centre's address on Bath Road. On Sat morning I went to their Centre and lo and behold the same story was repeated again !! I did ask the centre staff to call the customer care number which they did but the customer care again put the staff on a long hold of more than 45 minutes and finally did not come back on the phone. The staff told me that it is time to close their shop (it was 10 mins over 12 noon). I had no option again but to come back frustrated. Hope my experience helps some people. I would suggest try and avoid Enterprise Car Club if you are are new driver with less than 12 months on your UK driving license. For more details pls mail me at gaganworks@gmail.com
  • Gagan,

I don't love Enterprise, but in my experience they were the only option, and I had no problems validating my new license at Marble Arch. Did you find another provider willing to rent to you?

    Thanks

    Becky
