Nationwide RAF not payable when previous Switch bonus paid?

My wife recommended me under the RAF scheme but Nationwide have refused to pay as I received a switch bonus from them several years ago. Basically I moved an account away from them but now moved it back under the RAF scheme.
They have refused payment under rule 11 from RAF terms which actually states -
“The recommended friend is entitled to only one payment even if they switch more than one account to us or if more than one recommender recommends them”
My view is that my circumstances are different from this and I cannot see that they state they will not pay when a previous switch incentive was paid.
Anyone else come across this or anyone have a view??
Many thanks

I wasn't aware of the exclusion in the circumstances you describe and I don't think the T&Cs quoted necessarily cover your circumstances, but they could be interpreted in that way. I don't think you'll have any success in challenging it, but if you feel like you have the time and energy to then it might be worth a go.0 -
I agree that it's ambiguous but I presume their argument is that if they'd meant it the way you'd like to interpret it, they'd have said "The recommended friend is entitled to only one payment under the terms of this [RAF] offer even if they switch more than one account to us or if more than one recommender recommends them".0

I was going to ask why the Royal Air Force was getting involved with banking. I have completed a bit of Googling, and am up to speed!0

Looking at the T&Cs, rule 11 as you have quoted would seem to invalidate you from receiving a second switch incentive.
However rule 1 from the Recommend a Friend - Terms and conditions states:-
“This offer pays a recommender and credits the recommended friend’s current account with the offer payment for each qualifying recommendation made on or after 10 June 2017.”
This rule is a bit ambiguous as it could be interpreted to mean that if the previous recommendation, switch and incentive pre-dated 10 June 2017, then your new recommendation would therefore be after this date and thus qualify.
They could have simply added a rule to the Recommended persons terms along the lines of Halifax’s “You wont qualify for this offer if you’ve received cashback for switching to us since January 2012”
Might be worth a secure message to point this out.0
