Help! Broken firebrick & fittings on fireplace = huge heat loss

We have a cast iron fireplace which is currently losing a ridiculous amount of heat. Both the firebrick and it’s fittings (a thin, rectangle panel that sits each side of fire brick) have eroded causing what’s left of the firebrick to slip down and develop a gap for heat to escape. I’ve sourced a replacement cast iron firebrick (link below), however I haven’t been able to find any info about replacement fittings that hold the plate in place. The gap is now causing signifcant heat loss, which is a huge problem for us as we’re reliant on the open fire to semi-heat the house. We don’t have access to natural gas and LPG gas bottles are incredibly expensive in comparison (think twice the price, but only half the use).

I’d be really grateful for some advice / guidance from those in the know please! I plan on contacting our local fireplace supplier next week, however we’d prefer to avoid expensive repair costs and fix it ourselves if at all possible.

Huge thanks in advance for help and guidance.
