Help with possible POPLA appeal

Hi all,
i have read through the newbies post but I don't think I've found anything that relates to the signs in the car park that i have been issued a ticket in (i might have read them but didn't understand if they related to my particular query, sorry!).
I have a Parking Charge Notice from a hotel car park of which i have tried to appeal which was rejected. They have supplied me with a POPLA code and i need advice on whether i should pursue this or just pay the fine (£60 at the moment in the 'discount' period).
The signs when entering the car park have in Large print 'Permit Holders Only' and 'All visitors must register for a permit at reception', the rest of the sign, including the £100 parking fine if you don't have a permit, is in smaller print. There are also smaller versions of the sign dotted around the car park, above head height on the lamp posts.
My query is, should i appeal that the parking charge print is too small to read or will that not apply because the 'Permit Holders Only' part was in large print?
Back story if interested, i was dropping off my friends elderly relative to the hotel in the car park as she has difficulty walking but then they wanted us to go inside and have a coffee with them when we walked her to the reception area, so we stayed for an hour chatting. I didn't really pay attention to the signs as i wasn't planning on staying and we were sat by the reception for the whole time, if only id asked the receptionist instead of just saying hello, i could have avoided this!
Any advice would be appreciated,
Cheers

No-one here will advise you to pay
Go back to the newbies faq for advice on how to go about constructing a popla appeal - you do need to go through it more than once as there's a lot of information to absorb
Throughout here you are advised never to reveal who was driving.
Remove those details of who was driving from your post
Also follow the advice on complaining to the retailer. That is the easiest way to get this killed off0 -
Have you complained to the hotel and asked that they cancel this on behalf of a paying guest of theirs?
Which parking company?
The ‘discount’ offered is so you don’t go to POPLA where there is every likelihood of the parking company losing. Why do you think they want to avoid POPLA?Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

The signs are what’s known as forbidding signs and crop up an awful lot on here. The fee cannot be contractual as you cannot enter into a contract to do something that is forbidden.
It is covered in the Newbies thread.0 -
The parking company is Civil Enforcement Ltd, they are on the BPA list, which is why i was not sure about challenging the ticket. I think i will go down the signage route though i havent contacted the hotel and i will try this first.
Thanks for the responses, i will go back through the newbies thread and try to gleen more info as youve suggested.0 -
Just do a very brief search on ‘CEL POPLA’ and find a recent thread/post with a full POPLA appeal relating to a CEL PCN. Copy it, make slight adjustments to reflect your own circumstances, let us see your draft for fine tuning, then send it off to POPLA. CEL will almost certainly withdraw - then it’s all done, you’ve won.
Here’s how to use the forum’s search function:
By all means also complain to the hotel as they will have the capacity to cancel this, plus it provides them with further evidence of the negative affect employing a predatory parking company has on their business.Use the Forum Jump button (one near the top and one near bottom of this page) to get back to the forum thread list. Just above the threads, on the right, is a heading along a line, next to forum tools, called 'Search this Forum'. Put your key word(s) in and change the default search from 'Show Threads' to 'Show Posts'.
