Cost of built in bathroom cupboard?

I'm considering having a wooden wall cupboard fitted in the bathroom - approx 76cm high and 66cm width with either 2 or 3 shelves - ideally movable.
It would be fitted in a corner joining with the ceiling and end wall so not sure if I would need wood at the ceiling and wall sides?
I want double opening doors with a tongue and groove effect and 2 wooden knobs. I'll be painting it so would be going for as cheap a wood as possible. Presumably the shelves could be MDF or similar.
There is a local bespoke carpenter with a reputation for top quality work. A few of the neighbours have used him. I have heard he charges £20 an hour though I haven't confirmed that.
Has anyone any idea what it would cost? I don't want to get anyone out for a quote if it is likely to be beyond my budget.

  • You’re going to have to get a quote from him because unless he’s a member on here no one can say how long he’ll take to manufacture and fit it.

Well yes - if I tried making a cupboard it would take me so long, I would have to charge a couple of grand at least (and even then it would be crooked and fall off the wall. :D). But I would have hoped that any joiners could on here could give me an idea of how long on average the job would take a competent joiner. Plus if anyone else has had similar work done, it might give me a broad idea of what to expect.
I've been quite specific after all. It's not like I am asking how long it would take to fit a bathroom. Sigh..

It will need to be made from moisture resistant MDF as its in a bath room.

There is probably a sheet at least of material, plus fittings, etc.

If it is premade in his workshop, and then fitted on site, its at least a days work so allow £200 + in labour and £60 or so materials plus VAT.

As it is such a small job you may struggle to get joiners to quote on it. A decent handyman may be the better option. And adapting a premade cupboard may also be more cost effective.
Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.
