Internet Cafe Security

Options
I am going to France on holiday in Sept.

Now that i am an MSE,i would like to monitor/move/pay money through my EGG Money Manager account which i do at home.

I would like to know if there could be security problems by using an internet cafe?

Basically,is it safe?

Personally if I was to use an internet cafe I would not do any financial transactions whilst using their computers.

I wouldnt either. It's bad enough that they store cookies on you, but there could be or sorts of keyloggers and trojans. Definately if you value your security I wouldnt.

I have used them a number of times, in the USA and in Tenerife to transfer money into my current acount to get cash out of an ATM, I delete the cookies and history afterwardsjust to be sure, if it's a secure site I don't think it would be problem, I don't think anyone would get into my account, I have four different security codes which change every time I log on. The main thing is to make sure that no one can look over your shoulder, I usually try and get a computer in a corner and my husband stands behind me to block anyones view.

Unless you have plenty of security, I would think it is a risk. However, if you can get to the USB port, and you can run a program from there, then this http://johnhaller.com/jh/mozilla/portable_firefox/ might be of use. Still susceptible to rubber neckers and key loggers (unless you have security that changes, of course).

Do egg give WAP access? Could you use your mobile (at a ridiculous price, no doubt).

    Regards,

I used an internet cafe in India and within a week all the money from my current account disappeared. Fortunately my bank reimbursed the full amount. they said the money has been transferred to an account in Germany and probably by keylogging!

I WOULD never use a net cafe to do any forms of banking transactions. Be warned there are loads of shifty people out there!!!!!!!
