My Hermes lost my parcel

I was wondering if I could ask for some advice, I sold a parcel on eBay on 5th January but the recipient hasn't received it yet. I have spoken to Hermes but they said they are investigating, the problem I have is am I entitled to the value of the parcel even if it's not insured? The parcel is worth 300. What happens if it is lost or stolen by Hermes , do I have a right to claim the value? As I said I didn't I sure it.

Have you logged in online to check if it's there and what the delivery status is?
All parcels have a small amount of insurance as part of the deal, usually £20. If you've not insured over and above that and the parcel is lost this is all you will receive.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
From their terms and conditions:
We will only be liable to pay the lesser of £20 or the cost of repair/replacement if we damage or lose your Parcel if you do not take out our Full Cover.
If you take out our Full Cover, then our liability will be limited to its value or, if less, the cost or repair/replacement.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
You didn't insure it so of course you can't claim the value. If it's lost you will need to refund your buyer.0

Why would it be optional if you can just claim the full amount back anyway, regardless?
This is an expensive lesson you’ll just have to suck up. You tried to cheap out by not taking cover and it’s backfired.0 -

As per the other responses the parcel is your responsibility and if lost your buyer is entitled to their full payment back. Assuming it was an eligible item, and MyHermes have an awful lot of exclusions, you will be able to put in a claim for the £20.
Keep on at MyHermes, it might just be that the tracking hasn't updated and your buyer already has it. Has the buyer actually complained yet or are you assuming it's lost purely due to the tracking?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. If it was stolen then there's potentially a claim against the criminal. But you don't know if it was or whom by. As it stands your cover is as per the service you purchased. Ie £20 as said by others.
Expensive lesson. But is the way it is0
