Help: AMAZON refunded a 4yrs old voucher that was gifted to me and now I can't use it

Hello,

I had a £40 gift voucher given to me by my former company 4 years ago.

The expiry date of this voucher is 2024 so it is still valid, however when I decided to use it - it said my card was locked out.

And when I called their customer service they say the card was refunded back to the purchaser.

I don't know who the purchaser is and my former company won't help because it was 4 years ago.

My thinking is their system didn't recognise a 4yr old card so it triggered a refund when it locked me out and when their customer service tried to unlock it - it refunded it?

This seems like an utter !!!! up from Amazon because the card is valid and their system automatically refunded it for some reason.

I was furious to their customer service on the phone but they seem clueless in understanding this faulty logic by their system and seem to be following what the computer says rather than using their own head.

Do I have a case? What can I do in this situation?

I believe if its gifted and refunded they are in right give money back to orginal payer. Most companies wouldn't even do that. Amazon have done nothing wrong here
