Double Ended Scart Lead?

I would like to get a freeview box but I only have one scart socket on the back of my TV, which is curretly taken up with the DVD player. Does anyone know if it is possible to get a 2-to-1 scart lead or converter and if so what the proper name for them is or stockists? If not, any suggestions on how I can overcome this?
Cheers;)

I was just looking for exactly the same thing. Maplins sell them - this link might help you:

If it doesn't work go to their site and look for scart multiway, the first 2 options should be what you need.

You can also get them in Argos and often in PC World, Dixons and Currys (try the video games section if not found in the AV section). Boxes which need to be switched manually tend to give better quality results than those which simply connect all the wires together without any switching.0

Thanks for this. I'm interested in the two way scart lead with the switch. So let's say i have both my xbox and my dvd player turned on at the same time. Is there some kind of remote control so i can flick between games and movies, or can assign the xbox to av1 and the dvd to av2 or something.0

Thanks for this info, unfortuantely I am a complete technophobe & don't know what you mean about switichng manually rather than connecting wires?
Would this http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=3151&productId=119755&clickfrom=name

1) If your freeview box has modulated RF (NOT just pass through) then the aerial going through then to your TV will contain the freview channels - no need for scart.
2) If you freview box or dvd player have two scart sockets you can 'daisy chain' them using normal scart leads.0 -
the big lebowski, I'm not sure exactly which product you refer to but if there's a switch then you should be able to have both your xbox and DVD player turned on at the same time and the ability to alternate between them by operating the switch.
With a box or cable that doesn't have a switch you can usually only have one device powered up at a time otherwise they can interfere.0 -
Lillibet, I'm not sure about that 3-to-1 box as the details aren't very clear but it could be the type without switches and you may find that you can't have the Freeview box and DVD player on at the same time. Of course, that may not be a problem if that's unlikely to arise!
You could also consider this alternative box which is more flexible and has switches to select between the devices but you might think it unnecessarilly large and inconvenient if the other one is actually suitable for your needs...

firespire has also suggested a couple of alternative scenarios which might work for you... perhaps you could get the Freeview box on its own first to see whether or not you really need a special SCART adapter; or if you buy one and don't need it Argos should provide a refund within 16 days.0 -
Asda do a 3 way scart switcher from phillips for £9.99 I think. Also some cheaper non brand ones aswell0

If you were to buy a freeview box with two scart sockets then you can plug the DVD into one and the TV into the other. It just means turning the freeview box off (standby) to watch a DVD. Ditto if the DVD player has two scarts. Works fine for me with digibox and Xbox.He huihuinga taangata he pukenga whakaaro – A meeting of people; a wellspring of ideas (Maori proverb)0

I have just aquired a freeview box and was looking for info on 2 to 1 scart leads etc. However having read earlier posts, I am now somewhat confused. Can I use the dvd and feeview at the same time? Can I record from freeview onto dvd? Can anyone help?0
