Income Protection Mis-selling
Malcs
Hi,
I'm new the the forum, but looked around for answers to this and couldn't see it. I think I was missold an income protection policy I bought from standard life. I was working for the NHS and had a permanent post where if ill I was paid 6 months full pay, followed by 6 months half pay.
The policy I was recommended by my financial advisor has a deferred period of 13 weeks.
Is this mis selling? If so if I complain to standard life will they pass me to the financial advisor? Who should I go to first?
Thanks

Missold income protection plans are extremely rare. They dont even get a classification under the FOS because there are so few.was working for the NHS and had a permanent post where if ill I was paid 6 months full pay, followed by 6 months half pay.

it is not misselling as you have a financial need for the policy. However, it does appear to have been set up with incorrect deferment periods. It should either be 52 weeks or split benefit with 50% at 26 weeks and 100% at 52 weeks. So, its more of an error than a missale.
You should contact the financial adviser so they can correct the error.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
