Hi
I’m currently employed and just failed a level 2 food hygiene exam, iv been told iv got to retake the exam at my own cost (which I don’t mind) but if I fail this one I will lose my job. Iv been employed for this company for about 9 mouths. Iv never had to do one. Just wondering if anyone could tell me if that is the case.
Thanks in advance

If you've only been there for 9 months they can let you go for any reason, or even just because they feel like it.
If your job is working with food, then yes you do need some sort of basic food hygiene certificate. Have you got booklets or on-line information from your previous attempt you can go back over - they're not that difficult. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Ok thanks. I have been reading online about food hygiene. In the exam I struggled to concentrate after 2.5 hours being in front of a screen. I have no information on my previous attempt. Will keep researching information online about it. Thanks0

Was there no training/ instruction prior to the exam?Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -
I had to sit in front of a computer do some reading which took me about 3 hours answer a couple of multiple choice questions and then the exam.0

Make notes as you go along? That's what I normally do with e-learning.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

I wonder if it is worth looking to see if it is offeted by a local college as a day school. It might be worth paying for some tuition. We used to be sent a book to read a couple of weeks before the test. I expect there is one you could buy on Amazon.0

Thanks so much, I’m going to be looking into courses at my local college, and will take a look on amazon for some books. Thank again0

Might be cheaper than amazon, depending on the comparative shipping costs.

Wouldnt have thought food hygiene could be so complex. Just keep everything clean, make sure everything is cooked and wash your hands after using the bathroom, or after handling raw meat etc. But then I am a hopeless cook anyway....Sometimes my advice may not be great, but I'm not perfect and I do try my best. Please take this into account.0
