I just spotted these last night - hadn't realised they were a thing!
Was planning a car change for bigger boot but since this was mainly for occasional/holiday use - a roof box would be fine.
I discounted that option based on the fact that we don't have anywhere to store a traditional top box.
However if it's a fold up one that goes down to similar dimensions of a travel cot, then that can easily go in the attic. It means it would also be easy to store at the holiday destination.
Anyone have any experience of these or happen to own a good one to recommend?

My neighbour has a Thule one that he uses for camping a dozen or so times a year. He also has a roofbox that sits in his garden because he prefers the flexible one.The man without a signature.0

Handy if you do not have the space for a roofbox, but beware putting items in that you do not want to get wet if driving in wet conditions.
The flaps and zips may allow water in whilst driving.
Bag everything in waterproof bags as an added precaution, you dont want to get to your destination with wet items.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I had similar requirements to you and I have a thule ranger 90 and it is great. It folds down to travel cot sized. It comes with a lock. It is easy to fit and remove from the roof bars. It is pretty waterproof but I stick everything in bin bags in there just in case. It fits about 2 big bags inside very easily.0
