hi..... you parcel is either in the backlog of items in the sorting office..or caught up in the wildcat strikes.....depending on where you live, and also where the parcel was posted from.....
normally royal mail states that the allow 14 days for a item to be delivered after that time..then they will say an item is 'lost' in the post.....
but due to the strikes etc.... i would say that they would extend that time maybe to 28 days......
the only thing i can suggest is wait patiently .....and then if you have not recieved the item after the 14 days.. then contact royal mail and see what they say......
royal mail have a HUGE backlog of mail....to deliver... on top of the normal day to day mail......
as for the recorded.. they are not even guarenteeing the next day special delivery....the only peace f mind there is that higher pirced items are insured.......if they go astray.....
if you parcel is eventually deemed lost.. it is only insured for up to £34...so who ever send it will only get that amount backWork to live= not live to work0 -
i posted 23 recorded things last week, one of which was to an address less than 20 miles from me, none have arrived yet.0

I would let the person who sent it know that it has not yet arrived - there won't be much either of you can do about it yet, I don't suppose, but I think it's them who have to report its non-arrival.
wonder when something my son sent from Bristol to Cambridge will arrive - also special delivery!
Some couriers have gone a bit haywire - I wanted something from Amazon urgently so paid for Express Delivery, it was supposed to arrive on Wednesday morning but it didn't, nor did a card. So I tracked it and found it said they'd ATTEMPTED delivery - not to us they didn't! Phoned Amazon who said they'd refund the Express Delivery charges and get it re-delivered on Thursday. First thing Thursday morning my manager rings me at home to say there's been a burst water main near our building, we're flooded  and the roads are gridlocked. So I phone Amazon and postpone delivery until Thursday.
Get to work Wednesday afternoon and realise that the entrance to our road is going to be blocked for a few days yet, and it's a one way street. By now I've had an email from Amazon with the contact number for the courier, which is a good start. Speak to a very helpful lady there who remembers speaking to Amazon, and give her directions for the closest the driver will be able to get and how to get to us from there!
Have to say I'm not holding my breath for delivery tomorrow, but maybe they'll surprise me!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
There are a number of discussions on the ebay and other auctions board about recorded delivery. For some reason recorded seems to have been more affected by the strike than standard mail and even when it does arrive it run the risk of never showing up as delivered online.
Personally I think recorded is a bit of a con, it is only standard mail and carried with the rest of the mail and there are posts about recorded never being signed for or disappearing entirely and if you do need to claim the RM even keep the 70p recorded fee!
Incidentally the Royal mail guidelines for lost mail is it can only be claimed for after 15 working days, ie 3 weeks normally. Standard mail only covers the cost of the item carried up to £34 and for a claim you need to prove the value with receipts or some other method.
Anyway, I'm probably being a bit glum, it will probably arrive very soon as reports from Royal mail suggest the backlog is virtually clear except for liverpool where there are still unofficial strikes.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I've had an unsuccessful special delivery card through the door today, and it says I'm supposed to wait 48 hours before I try to collect it myself! It used to be 2 hours, didn't it? They really are taking the p, aren't they ...
Anyway, I intend to go to the local delivery office first thing tomorrow.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

no there not.ive written about this before skulking around the ebay board.
a van duty will generally go back to the delivery office after finishing the duty.thus 2 hours on the card
a foot delivery will not as they go to a post office and pouch off undelivered items.combine this with the new later delivery schedules and you see why it can take 2 days to return.
it maybe back tomorrow0 -
