I think your premium is higher, because you've done a chancel search which has shown up a potential liability.
Had you not done a search, it may have been cheaper.

I paid about £20 for an indemnity policy last year when I bought my flat. My solicitor included it within the paperwork that came with the searches and was my responsibility to pay for as the buyer.0

Apologies for dredging an old thread up, but in the midst of a purchase and having instructed a relevant search (which was already paid for) , I've been quoted £150 for a policy. This seems wild, when searching online I can see places that do it for £15 +IPT but sadly you have to be a company to order it. CONCLUSION
In summary, liability continues unless and until the land has been purchased, for valuable consideration, since 13 October 2013. Following such a purchase (assuming no notice of the right has been registered) the landowner will not be liable and nor will anyone who acquires the land from or through him. However, prior to such a purchase the landowner, together with any tenant or mortgagee, must be aware that chancel repair liability may still be enforced. In addition, there is a continuing risk that a notice will be registered against your title and the burden will be on you to remove this.0 -
Did anyone pay an admin set up fee for their insurance. I have been quoted £42 set up fee to pay for a £15 insurance0

It is often cheaper to buy a chancel policy than for anyone to do the research as to whether there is a liability.0
