in Credit cards
I've just had my final invoice for my cruise from Fred Olsen and it states that there is a 1.5% surcharge for paying by credit card.
Is this now not illegal?
There is no surcharge for paying by any other method.

When did you book it?0

The website states there is no longer a payment, sounds like they've not updated the invoice template. Why not just call them?0

Much easier to answer zx81's question, the answer then may be quite straightforward.BorisThomson wrote: »The website states there is no longer a payment, sounds like they've not updated the invoice template. Why not just call them?0 -
When did you book it? I suspect it pre dates the new legislation
Does that make a difference? The website states there is no longer a payment, sounds like they've not updated the invoice template. Why not just call them?
Because I hadn't checked the website when I posted the above.0 -

Yes, it does.
In what way?
It was booked in December 2017 and a deposit was paid with a debit card.
I have now checked the website and it says that no surcharge will be payable but it does not say anything about cruise booked before Jan 20180 -
From Fred Olsen website.
Is there a surcharge for making a cruise booking using a credit card?
In line with UK law, no surcharge will be applied to guests booking a cruise with a credit card.
I have already booked the cruise.0 -
The surcharge is correct as you booked the holiday before the change in the law. If you were to book now there would be no fee.0

This is covered in the main thread about this change in the law.

To repeat;
" The amendments to the Regulations (regulation 6A, and related amendments) apply to charges made on or after 13 January 2018, except for charges under contracts entered into before 18 July 2017;"
As you booked after 18/7/17 they cannot lawfully make a CC surcharge.0
