Cheap October half-term destination..?

We are looking at going somewhere for about 10 days during October half-term, I've looked at flights to Faro and Mallorca, but everything seems an awful lot more expensive than it has been previous years.
Do you have any recommendations of somewhere not too far away, with the chance of getting a little bit of winter sun, without paying a fortune please..? Any tips would be gratefully received!
Thank you.

Monarch are no longer in the mix so there are fewer seats available.
Are the school holidays the same in all parts of the country? If not you could maybe look at departing from an airport where they are not on holiday.0 -
Last year we got a good deal to Crete. This year I have booked a less good deal to Kos.
Looking, one of the issues is the timing of half term with the end of Oct. some places shut at the end of Oct, but with flights out you could not do the 10 days without going beyond the 31/10.0 -
Like Scotland. We've had some good deals flying from Glasgow in the English October half term, even with a night's accomodation at the airport hotel, fuel and parking it was considerably cheaper than flying from Manchester. Nice drive through the lakes to get there as well.Monarch are no longer in the mix so there are fewer seats available.

Obviously if you live on the south coast it might not appeal

Excellent idea, but unfortunately we live in Devon, so we have a bit if a drive even to get to London! Flying from Scotland, we'd need another week just to get there & back! 😂I don't think I can hang on til Friday...0
