10/10 would eat again. The vegan cheese sauce I used was new though and the whole thing was delicious :rotfl: also I didn't die, either :T That kind of thing would really ruin your weekend

It's a "Best Before" not a "Use By". I'd have eaten it, too.

I found two years ago a tin of corned beef from 1998, still got it.

We found a box of Norfolk sage and onion stuffing, sell by 01/01/15. It was delicious. The brand no longer exists.0

I feel hard-done-by now - my food cupboards are arranged with almost military precision, and everything is used in rotation (when I purchase a "cupboard staple" it gets put behind any of the same that are already there iyswim) and it's all documented on a spreadsheet as well, so there's absolutely zero chance of me finding any "hidden treasures" in my cupboards or freezer.

I want a spreadsheet now! I'm always replenishing things we haven't even run out of.0 -
In my spice/herb rack I have a mixture of those I use very regularly and those for occasional use. The latter are often years out of date. Assuming they're properly stored, the worse that can happen is that they lose a bit of their flavour. I intend to use them up before buying new.
As others have said, it's about the difference between 'best before' and 'use by'.0 -
I found an old jar of dill the other day... the best before is no longer legible  still edible. Guess it's a 90s jar due to the shape, though - wonder if there's any way we could find out?In my spice/herb rack I have a mixture of those I use very regularly and those for occasional use.
