Aerial question

Options
So , I put on tv in the living room . I then had shower etc. I then returned to living room to see nothing coming from tv . Just a black screen . My tv has a built in DVD player , so I checked that and all is good. I then turned on my humax set top box as I have freesat.
That works . How Bizarre .

What I normally do in the morning, is put on tv as the humax takes a while to get going . Just wondering why there is ‘no signal’ .
Not a huge problem , but any ideas?

Did you/do you normally change the input on the TV from DVD (Scart1/HDMI1), Freesat box Scart2/HDMI2 to Aerial
  • The TV setup page may be able to show you status such as signal strengh, error rate, etc.

Can you configure the humax to power up at a certain time ? I had a vague recollection that was something available, but maybe I'm thinking of my TV. Or get it to record breakfast TV every morning or something, just to try to wake it up so it's ready for you ?

Why does your Humax decoder not switch on immediately? Are you, by any chance, switching it off at the wall socket?

Have you tried plugging the aerial directly into the tv?

If the aerial goes into the Humax first and then, with a jumper lead, to the tv it may not provide a signal to the tv if the Humax is switched off until the Humax powers up again.

Also, as mentioned above, the input on the tv will need to be set to TV, DVD, Sat as appropriate to the source.
  • Wow! So many responses in a short time :)
The setup I have : tv . Humax is on hdmi 1 . Apple TV is on hdmi 2
Mac mini is on pc Input.

Just had a look at the back of tv . The aerial is going direct to tv .
I have a feeling that this may be wrong . Having said that , surely it should work if it is going direct from the wall socket.

Not sure why the humax is taking its time to operate.
My tv/ dvd combo takes its time also , it has to be said .

I’m on a break from work at the moment and only watch channel 4 for a couple of hours . I don’t want to record reruns of everybody loves raymond . I don’t watch breakfast v as a rule . Until recently I’ve always been an early starter workwise .

I live in a block of 3 flats. I noticed a letter from tv licensing for a tenant upstairs . I could be overthinking there tho

I’ve just turned tv on , and all is well . How bizarre.
:) just doing an auto tune . I may have extra channels . Who knows?:)

No , I leave it on at the wall always . What does happen though, is if I go to hdmi2 to watch Apple TV and then go to hdmi 1 to watch freesat again , it has to be turned on again at the remote .

Humax boxes do take time to be able to use as they seem to delight I doing pre-start checks even if left on stand-by!

My Humax HD-R 1100S takes around 30 seconds to 'boot up'. Until it does, the TV shows 'No Signal'. Switching off the Humax by the remote has the same effect: it shows 'No Signal' until the TV turns off after the period of time set by the TV itself. This is adjusted by the TV remote, in TV Settings.

As I have Freesat and don't need Freeview, the TV aerial is not connected. I do have a soundbar connected to the system, nothing else.
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.
