Crook Hall and Gardens is one of Durham’s most delightful outdoor spaces, a Medieval manor house in the heart of the city. Bought by Keith Bell with his wife 21 years ago, the venue has been transformed into a brilliant visitor attraction renowned for its gardens. In Blood, Sweat and Scones, Keith tells the story of how the gates of Crook Hall were reopened to the public, and the practical and emotional struggles that go into creating one of County Durham’s top tourist attractions. The book also contains Crook Hall’s famed recipe for scones, so you can recreate them at home.
