Hi All
Looking for your advice please. I had a loan a while back for a car. All I have left is a agreement number and the fact that it was with GMAC. I wrote asking if they could tell me if there was PPI on the loan and how the PPI was added (e.g. was it a single premium).
GMAC have replied saying that there was PPI on the loan which was sold to me by Motorbodies Luton (the dealer I brought the car from) and that they entered into the agreement with me on 11th April 2003. They state that this agreement also funded the premium for the PPI but could not tell me if it was a single policy.
In their letter they say that they understand the dealer is no longer trading. A quick google shows that there is still a Vauxhall dealer on the site but it is now Thurlow Nunn. Another google it looks to be that Motorbodies Luton are still a active company on the companies house website
beta companieshouse gov uk/company/04382574/filing-history
(Sorry as a new user I can’t post links but fill in the spaces with dots)
The address is different but looking at the filing history I can see that the changed their registered office address from that of the one they were at when I brought the car and that which Thurlow Nunn are at now. This happened in Jan 2015.
Should I go back to GMAC with this info or do i write to the motorbodies address I found on the companies house site or would Thurlow Nunn now have responsibility? ( or is this a dead end ? )
Thanks

It is indeed a dead end.ScuttleBug wrote: »or is this a dead end ?
The dealer currently occupying that site carries no burden of responsibility for sales made by any predecessor.
The sale being prior to 2005 also means you have no access to FSCS.
With no one left to complain to, your pre-regulation complaint has failed before it's begun.0 -
Thought as much. Thanks for the confirmation Moneyineptitude0

It doesnt matter if they are trading or not. You bought in 2003. Dealers became regulated in 2005.Should I go back to GMAC with this info
GMAC have no liability. The dealer does. However, it pre-dates regulation.would Thurlow Nunn now have responsibility?
