I really don't understand why ebay just went ahead and refunded him.
He is a new member with low feedback, I have been on ebay for over 10 years with not a single negative.
They've basically just sided with the conman.
That sounds so unfair...especially as you had photos and IMEI number.so what happens when you get phone back and its not yours.....how do you prove it0 -
It's the policies of Paypal is the problem which always seem to favour the buyer, even with good evidence. So maybe you can tell us where people can sell without being scammed? As there isn't any. Every item you buy or sell online or offline has the potential to end in you being ripped off.
At least with purchases made with a credit card from reputable companies gives you far more protection..0 -

then I'm really amazed you didn't know better than to sell a mobile phone on ebay. Must be one of the highest risk transactions. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -
You say you sent a returns label but haven’t received the phone back yet.
Has the buyer sent the phone? Was there an attempt at delivery? What does the tracking number that accompanies the return label say?0 -
If you believe the buyer to have been fraudulent in his claim then report him to the police.
Yes, it's low value (relatively speaking) but a fraud is a fraud and you will be given a crime reference number. Then you can go back to ebay and present your case - complete with the reference no, the evidence and go from there.
You can also block the phone and go to small claims court for the value of you loss.:hello:0 -
I had a similar thing happen to me a few years back.. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5350602

I sent the buyer a returns label, but haven't received any information regarding return of phone or any tracking details.
I guess once the buyer got his money back he didn't bother sending it. I can't even view the return label in my account.0
