Notice period - employer wont pay

I have been made redundant this week with immediate effect.

Longstanding employee of over 20 years but without a written contract of employment.

I have been given a figure for statutory redundancy. I have asked about a notice period of 12 weeks and been told they are not paying it?

I have read the employment law that I am entitled to 12 weeks statutory paid notice, is this correct please? Has my employer any right not to pay this?

That's correct and no they don't.

  • Thank you.

I thought that was the case but when my employer tells me otherwise you start to question yourself.
