  • 5th NSD today, but will need some veg tomorrow. Freezer stock diminishing nicely ready for defrosting, hoping that will be next week. Having a staring match with 4 tins of sardines in tomato sauce, which I don't like, but will eat, in the end!!
A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it
You're welcome we can spare it, yellow socks
  • good morning everyone
well made my shortbread yesterday with reduced butter. Started baking only to discover I hadn't any castor sugar so I just whizzed up some granulated in the food processor. Worked fine shortbread tastes lovely. The only problem is I now have a huge tin full of shortbread which I know I will eat too much of.
Didn't manage to make my soup yesterday but the red pepper and tomato mentioned in an earlier post sounds very nice so I might make it today. Half and hour in soup maker and done.:j
Today for dinner I am having steak, mash and cauliflower with a white sauce. ( I don't like cheese sauce)
Have taken pork from freezer for tomorrow.
Off to make a rough menu plan for week. Has to be a wee bit flexible as there always seems to be some glitch in the system.
Resisted going to shops yesterday and no plans to do so today.:)

£18.89 in Tosco, needed chicken for the dog, nappy bags for dog poop, picked up 2 reduced courgetti 52p, and a bag of ready peeled spuds 59p, did a rough count and added 7 bars of my dark choc, looked at receipt to put on here, and had 52p knocked off on 3 for 2 veg, so 1 courgetti free.
Do I need it or just want it.

Had to order food for the dogs today but should last the month. Have added £24 to my total, will have a look around before next month to see if I can find a cheaper supplier. Dh treated us to a chinese last night so will be having the chicken we'd planned to eat as a roast today.

£3.08 in B and M on chocolate, sweets and sugar.
£2.04 in Morrisons on 2 x YS pies ( DD1 didnt want what we were having and would have had to wait just under an hour for a frozen pie, so lucky find). Also, large yorkshire pud for DD2, bread, bananas and a bag (i didt ake one to work but didn't think i'd need another)
£4.32 in work on YS eggs (handy for DD1 if baking), chocolate and sweets.

    Good evening All

(Cross posted to the 2018 £50 February Challenge.)

Today was our first spend for February, £7.73 at MrT!!!8217;s which included tortilla wraps, £3 on yoghurts (2 x Yeo Valley plus a huge, 1kg tub of plain yoghurt for £1), some YS sliced ham, YS salad leaves and YS hummus. The only unnecessary spend was 99p for chunky chocolate chip cookies for our game this afternoon (which didn!!!8217;t get eaten because one of the players brought along cake for their birthday).

Anyway, the spend so far for February is £7.73/£50, leaving £42.27 remaining.

    22 - yarn
    1.5 - sports bra
    2 - leather wallet
  • £9 spent at the market this morning, which bought vast amounts of almonds for my veggie/pescatarian girls, 3 large punnets of blueberries - I'm hoping the two-legged mice will leave my blueberry & lemon muffins alone for long enough to cool, but I took one of them back to uni earlier so there's hope yet - and a large bag of shallots, which I prefer to onions in certain dishes. I can keep them cool & well-aired so they won't sprout or rot, and I'd expect that lot to last a couple of weeks at least. And quite a bit spent on an online whole-foods order, which comes under the bulk-buying purse, but that lot should last for about 4 months.

Ooo I lurve sultanas - especially when they've had time in something to 'plump' up

You can add to soo many things from scones, yoghurt, rice puddings, cooked apples and raw banana with whatever, etc

Plus they are gorgeous in main dishes such as curries, tagines and chillies etc

The list is endless if you like sultanas :rotfl:
    Lx

What do you usually use to plump them up?

I spent £15.51 in morries today, went in as we were passing to get a large 12.4kg bag of unwashed potatoes. I prefer them as they come in a big brown bag rather than plastic. They are also pretty cheap £4.94. Bit frustrated though, as I picked up a pack of limited edition mull*r lights that said £2 on the shelf edge, but been charged £3.87. The stores not nearby otherwise I'd take them back and query it. I've been wanting to try them for ages so will be a treat for me.
