My first log so hope this is right .....
I've meal planned and done a "big shop" which all in came to £103.86. I have two who need a packed lunch plus my rats eat a lot of fresh stuff and meat. I'm also gluten free so happy with my Spend so far !!!55358;!!!56606;
A win for us tonight was having 85p pizzas instead of takeaway. Spent less than £3 when would spend £20+ normally !!!55357;!!!56881;!!!55357;!!!56881;
I've got a pork loin out the freezer for tomorrow and already done the veg.
Going to turn leftovers into a pork and stuffing platt.
If we can get through the month with no take away I will be happy !!!55357;!!!56841;0 -
Sigh. Thought I was going to have an NSD today, but we ran out of butter this morning. So £18.50 later, we should have enough for all of February, plus some yogurt that OH has been recommended to try as part of his marathon-training regime. Oh well, could be much worse! But we do seem to have rather a lot of 2-legged mice in the house; I made a batch of hob-nobs earlier and there are just 8 left...Angie - GC Aug25: £207.73/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0

Took my eye off the ball a bit in Jan, so trying to start afresh. DH still only has PT work almost a year on from redundancy so every little will help. I am very lucky in my job - scary to think how quickly life could unravel if more than one thing went wrong at the same time!!
This week have sketched out a meal plan combining some old favourites with some from the Eat not spend blog A$da challenge.
Did weekly shop in A$da - some things are very reasonable, others I think more than my usual Sainsbobs. Hairy bikers Spanish chicken bake tonight - DS favourite, he likes the chorizo!
Target this week is to AVOID the topup shop. These can add over £20 to the total I find!GC Feb 2019 (to 10th) £397.07/£3000 -

It's sultana's, I thought it was a mixture of currants, raisins, sultanas with mixed peel. It's surplus stock for what he uses to make hot cross buns at work.Grocery Challenge 2024

Forgot to add yesterday's spend at morries for lunch, unexpected stop to grab a few bits for me and the youngest. Spent £7.77.
Today went to b%M, spent £4.19, on squash, reduced price milksake syrup, biscuits and a couple of jars of roasted red peppers.
Then popped to ald! for a sweet potato, red cabbage and a bag of sweets for the kids. spent £1.42, definitely need to be better about writing my shopping list next week as I don't like going to the shop this much.Grocery Challenge 2024

You can add to soo many things from scones, yoghurt, rice puddings, cooked apples and raw banana with whatever, etc
Plus they are gorgeous in main dishes such as curries, tagines and chillies etc
The list is endless if you like sultanas :rotfl:

I use an app on my phone called Out of Milk. It is pretty cool and probably has features that I don't use on it but I have set up various "pantry lists" on it to keep track of what I have and I try to update it at the end of every day on what has been used.
I have then written a sentence in the notes of each item that I want to keep a stock of "Minimum of ..., Currently have...". The minimum number is the minimum number I want in my stock cupboard before I look for offers on it - this is usually 1 or 2 months supply. I update the "Currently have" section and when these numbers match I then add it to my shopping list as "look for offers".
Most of these items will be on offer during the period between then and me actually running out and I will then stock up 3 or 4 months worth when it is on offer!! Means I very rarely buy household cleaning items, toiletries and tin food etc. at full price!
It was a pain to set up originally and time consuming but makes it so much easier now, I just check the boxes I want and they are added to the shopping list. I also have a "checking list" for all other items that I don't stock pile such as fridge items, fruit and veg etc. Just means I can create my shopping list on my phone very quickly and easily by nipping round the kitchen and ticking the boxes I need!
Hope the info helps!
Thanks for this app recommendation, I have needed to do a cupboard/fridge/freezer inventory in months! We managed to whip out the laptop whilst hubbie emptied the fridge and used a spreadsheet. This app should allow everything to become easier to check when I'm in the shops! Thanks again!GC Challenge 2018:
