I wanna stay in B'ham City 7th December

I know it's party time which is why prices have rocketed. I saw a Travelodge room at £33 a few weeks ago - talked to OH (its his works party) went back to book it and it's been £66 ever since.

I really don't want to pay more than £40/£50 for a one night stay Friday 7th Dec as close to Crown Plaza (B1 1HH) as possible.

If you stay in the Etap it's £35 usually. Basic, but it is new so that counts for a lot! H has stayed there a few times and says it's perfect for what he needs. You can then walk along to the Mailbox, across the front of it, up the little hill at the side and the Crown Plaza is right there, I'm sure. 10 minute walk, tops.
