I have always recommended Ian Dunbar's training methods - especially "THE BITE STOPS HERE" - and here is a link to it :- https://naturaldogtraining.com/natural-training-methods/ian-dunbar-on-bite-inhibition/

I've used this with all the puppies I've had, and sent it off with each puppy pack when I've had a litter of puppies - hope you find it of some help x
  • If you don't happen to have the toy handy, stop moving when she bites and then, when she releases on her own, offer her the toy or a treat, and praise. The idea is to teach your dog that good things happen when bad behavior stops. Mouthing and nipping are natural behaviors for puppies but unwanted in dogs.

He has now completely stopped biting me but has carried on biting my partner. I think it's because my partner is a bit more playful with him and not reacting in the right way in regards to the training I've been doing.

You both need to be training him in the same way.
That's why I asked earlier if you were playing rough in any way- you need to keep him calm not wind him up. Just remember that the law has changed- if he nips anyone even in your garden you are now liable. It's not worth it- there are plenty of ways to play with a puppy without going OTT.
    It's not macho- it's foolish.

I completely agree with you Katiehound , hes never had a dog before so doesn't understand the seriousness of his training. Will keep getting on at him when I see him getting too playful.

Please make sure you both take your puppy to classes because that's the way your partner will see the need for consistency.
You can still have fun without 'horsing around'!
Did Dog's Trust have any classes suitable for you?

Hope you have a great time. Don't forget to take some really tasty treats- small pieces of chicken, cheese or sausage (hot dogs or normal) are a great reward. Only keep such things for training- that way they are special.
Good experiences for your pup and with any luck you will make some dog walking friends as well: dogs like their friends too!!
    Have fun!
