Double checking as worried

Hi all,
I switched current account. My new account was fully switched over 16th Jan to HSBC.
My Barclaycard direct debit is coming out 22nd Jan but has the sort code and account number of my old bank. I contacted Barclaycard and they said there’s nothing I can do other than make a manual payment. I believe they are wrong as I used the switch guarantee but I’m worried as I don’t want a missed payment on my credit.
Equally I rung up HSBC to ask this question and the guy was completely clueless about the whole switch and what it meant which I was a bit shocked about.
I think it will be paid as normal but I’m doubting myself and want some reassurance
If I do pay the Barclaycard manually I won’t have enough direct debits for the switch payment from HSBC as I have exactly 2!
Thanks in advance

Direct Debits (and standing orders) should be transferred automatically as part of the switch with no manual action needed from yourself. HSBC is part of the Switch scheme so they really ought to be able to advise you on this point, the operative you spoke to is evidently in need of some supplementary training.
What do you mean by "has the sort code and account number of my old bank", when and how did you check the details? Changes to a Direct Debit (e.g. changed regular amount) often don't show until the payment has been taken. So, you can probably just trust the system to work as advertised, and if the DD doesn't transfer successfully, pursue HSBC to put it right (it's the switch *guarantee* after all). You're right, making a manual payment may mean you don't have two active DDs at the point of switching (check the HSBC payment conditions to be sure).: )0 -
My Direct Debit hasn’t moved across after I’ve switched. What do I do?
If you're missing a Direct Debit and your switch is complete, contact your new bank. Remember all payments are covered by the Current Account Switch Guarantee and any charges or interest incurred on your old or new account as a result of the error will be refunded.
Reads to me, if anything goes wrong, they'll put it right - so any charges refunded and your record set right.0 -
How does your card treat payments made early? Would they still take the DD to clear the remainder of the balance in time for the due date? If so, you could make the minimum payment manually if you are still worried. That would save the faff of having to try to get any markers removed from your credit file (though as Flobberchops says, HSBC should put it right.)
It's important to check for your card as the treatment does vary and some might not collect the DD at all if the minimum has already been paid.0 -
First of all I would just give Barclays the new account number and sort code of your new account so all future payments will be made from there forget about the switching service
when it comes to the pending payment for the 22nd of January it should in theory be honoured in as much as the Old Bank should pass it to the new bank but I have heard tales of this not happening and so you are really in the lap of the gods to be honest0
