Hi, I was wondering could someone give me some advice please. Car was parked in a private carpark away from any shops on Christmas eve. It was paid up until 5.57pm, at 5.55, the number on the ticket machine was called to keep the meter going. The call took around 6 minutes as they really dragged out the signing up process. But paid until 7pm successfully even if it wa just a few minutes over the initial period.
Just after Christmas I received a letter demanding £70 . I was confused about a lot of info on the internet but chose to ignore it. Today I received a second letter saying I owe £90. What should I do? Please

    It is not a fine.

Immediately edit your post to remove information about who did what. Only ever refer to The Driver and The Keeper, who are two different people.

Then, and only then, please read the sticky thread for NEWBIES then send the relevant appeal template you will find there.

Please also confirm the exact name of the PPC as there are several with similar names.

Read the NEWBIES thread post #4 about 'ignore the debt collector' stage. Simple.

You missed the appeal chance so you now ignore, and come back if they try a claim (ECP don't!).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:
Home»Motoring»Parking Tickets Fines & Parking - read the NEWBIES THREAD
  • It states on my letter that POPLA IS not applicable in northern Ireland and I still have time to appeal.
It is Euro car parks limited, member of the BOA.
WE understand that you were the registered keeper or you have been named by the registered keeper as the driver/hired of the vehicle at the time the parking charge notice was issued by post.
Failure to pay = debt collectors.
Acting on behalf of landowners etc

They are right, PoPLA isn't applicable in Northern Ireland.

Is that relevant to your situation?

You haven't mentioned that you are in NI.

If you are in NI then seek out the answer to this question in the first post of the NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread:
Q - ''I'm in Scotland/NI, so is the advice different?''
  • Hi, I used the appeals template from the Newbies sticky and explained to the charging company I would not be paying the fine as I had not entered a contract nor was I declaring who was driving the vehicle. they responded today after a 2 week wait stating that as the registered keeper I must provide details on who is driving and I MUST pay the fine. Also that I did enter into a contract? Despite the fact they sent me photos of the sign that mentions nothing of a contract
