Vanquis ppi / ROP

Hi guys,
Just after a bit of advice I had a Vanquis card and took out repayment protection plan. I was a good customer but then got sick and couldn't work.. I couldn't keep up with the repayments.
I informed them I was ill. At the time I completely forgot I had taken the ROP out as I was mentally unwell. My head was all over the place. Not once was I told my account could be frozen. So I feel I've been mislead. I've just found statements. Do I have a claim? Vanquis forward the debt to a collections agency, who issued a court judgment, informing me I now have a CCJ and have to make arrangements to pay the debt.

Unfortunately, that's not a valid mis-selling reason.Luckyseven wrote: »I completely forgot I had taken the ROP out as I was mentally unwell.
Nothing to stop you making a complaint, however, but realise that any redress (should it be awarded) would go solely towards your unpaid debt.
In the meantime, you need to set up a repayment plan..0 -
I think having a breakdown is good enough reason. The fact that they can freeze your account without you having to take out ROP is misleading.
I won't be paying them a penny.. any money I'm awarded can go on the debt and rest to me. As I believe it to be a large amount.0 -
It is not for you to determine that, I'm afraid.Luckyseven wrote: »I think having a breakdown is good enough reason.
With a CCJ and outstanding unpaid debt that will undoubtedly cause you big problems. Your credit will be trashed for a start..Luckyseven wrote: »I won't be paying them a penny..
There is also no guarantee that any complaint you might make will be successful.0 -
I had ROP on my Vanquis credit card, I lost my job and phoned Vanquis to tell them, they didn’t mention to activate my ROP and I forgot I had it until about a year after it defaulted I found some old paperwork from when I got the card in 2015, I sent a complaint email to Vanquis basically saying when I phoned up to say I lost my job I should of been told I could freeze my account but they didn’t say a word!
Outcome of my complaint was that they activated my account freeze and refunded £50 worth of charges they added after I missed payments and also removed the default from my credit files, account is frozen for 2 years and they are currently reporting green ticks to all my credit files
Did you contact them when you got into trouble?Good things come to those who wait...
