Do we get paid in arrears or advance but still getting the boot

Options
Hello,

I have never been able to work it out, are we paid in advance or arrears, usually get paid on the 25th of each month so due next Thursday but also just been told confidentially that there is a letter in the post to me at home that is officially giving notice of my redundancy, shallow way to be treated after 37 years but not going to dwell on that, everyone including myself has a three month notice period, so would the next pay day count as one of the three months notice or from the following month, hence the question paid in arrears or advance, also a question someone else asked is what would happen if they didn't turn up for work for those three months notice period, would the terms of employment still exist, there is still work to be done, everyone is being laid off but the company will still exist with the director doing the invoicing to the clients until the orders are fulfilled, advice please
Thanks

We couldn't possibly tell toy whether your are paid in advance or arrears. That's between you and your employer.

If you don't turn up for work then you quit. No redundancy pay, no notice pay. I'm sure your employer will thank you for that! Your are still employed until that very last day. So nothing at all would change. You have to turn up to work because that is what eemployees must do.

I'm paid on the 25th of each month, in my case it's three weeks in arrears and one in advance.

The 3 month notice period should start when you are told, pay dates shouldn't come in to it.

Majority of people are paid in arrears, or if 25th then yes 1 week is in advance as Zandoni states.

Pay dates have nothing to do with it though, it is 3 months' notice from whenever the letter / your employer states. E.g. if you was told employment ends 20th April, you would still be paid on 25th April, it just means you would not be paid for the last 10 days of the month, however it should then include your final redundancy payout, outstanding holidays owed, etc.

As for what happens if you stop turning up? That depends, if it was to go AWOL then they could dismiss you for gross misconduct and then you lose all of the redundancy pay entitlement as well. If you agree authorised leave or use holiday days, then of course it's just like any other time off.
