ok, I was a little bit bored at work, computers really slow, took forever to load up a spreadsheet, gave up the ghost at the database, so had no option but to get the caluculator out, pencil and paper. By the time the computer decided to start working again, it was showing your sig line and it was that the end numbers just didn't add up.

Honesty makes me confesss that if I was giving bad news like INCREASE your debt I'd have kept my mouth shut;)!

    Helloooo all!

Well, I have spent the last five days in PC hell, have lost all of the data stored on my PC (well, it's backed up but I have to transfer it all, so it's still a pain) and am currently having to download every windows update since approximately 2002. My new job looks to be boring, their staff turnover is nearly 50% and they lied to me about the salary. My OH is living it up in France and I'm not. Oh, and England just lost.

Still, mustn't grumble. How is everybody else this fine (yeahright) day? And did I miss anything exciting?

Did they put the salary in your offer letter? And have you found out why the staff turnover is so high? Maybe it was your predecessor?

Been there with the updates...nightmare. Hope you fare better than us - ours died properly after we did all that so had to bite the bullet & buy a new PC box that came with Vista!

They put £xxxx rising to £xxxx. The 'rising to' is a theoretical figure. I've not a leg to stand on.

From what I can make out the turnover is high partly because you have to book all holiday a year in advance, if people change their plans they have to quit to do whatever they need to do; partly because they terminate your contract if you have more than 8 days absence in your first year for any but life-or-death illness or stuff covered by the DDA; partly because the salary, job description and general conditions have been somewhat misrepresented during the application process; and partly because the minute people discover all of the above they start looking elsewhere. Like me, for instance.

I know how you feel - our cat Stanley developed a blood clot at the base of his spine which paralysed his legs, we had to take him to the emergency vets at 11.30 at night, so luckily for me there was no-one to see me crying.

Will you get another cat when you feel ready? I wanted to, but was about to move to Blackpool to live with DF on a busy main road, so a new feline friend is on hold until we have a garden & quieter street.

    Love Floss xx

I already have 3 floss. Dotty & Poppy (Macey's daughters) & manu (Avatar) and thats quite enough for me! Macey lives on in the girls but I miss her already...house seems acutely empty without her but I'll get used to it with time. I live on a busy road but only let them out the back and so far so good...Manu is really the only one to go out, although they all can if they want to!

I would have thought that taking holidays in accordance with your contract was satutory right & I understood that being denied that was an automatic unfair dismissal thing - even in 1st 12 months?

Hope you find something better soon!

    Sorry, I meant sickness absence.

I wouldn't be so bothered, but their training is so hypocritical about being a 'caring' employer and a 'flexible' employer.

Ah well, I guess a sucky job is still better than no job.

Also sorry to hear about your cat FF. I think I have just realised that things aren't so bad for me right now. :grouphug:

i'm back on here from me long weekend away. Tried to be money saving but wasn't always successfull. At least it gave me the chance to forget about possibly losing my job, and my dad (although did check home daily about the latter). Went to work today thinking it won't be so bad, but then found i may have been stitched up by my managers who were going to fight for us all! Apparently will be having a chat tomorrow to tell me where i stand.

But did try on a toile for a wedding dress yesterday - and that's back to the planning stage, and am going to a shop tomorrow where they have 2 dresses my size big whoopee!

I've missed you lot whist i've been away though - so must have really caught the MSE bug, just wish i could get the finances sorted out more quickly
