Install wooden floors

I have a quote to install engineered wooden floors in lounge and hallway. Total 32 sq m of £1800. This incluses removing old parquet floor and skirting and replacing new skirting. Excludes cost of materials. Is this fair?

Sounds very cheap £56 sq mtrs . even if the wood is half that, the rest of the job is big enough to justify the costs. Only question, Are the skirting boards going to be the same wood, or just softwood as the door surrounds won't match if thats the case.0

Firstly a lot of people would just have the parquet floor sanded and re-finised (a lot cheaper and generally looks really good)
I do a reasonable amount of DIY and I laid a floating real wood wooden of different plank lengths in less than a day. The room was about 16m2 with a flat bitumen floor with a bay window and chimney breast. Another 1/2 day for refitting new skirting board. So for 25m2 work on roughly double the time.
Assuming 1/2 - 1 day to remove old flooring and skirting, assuming it is a floating floor and not a fixed floor and assuming the floor is currently level (which it probably is with parquet flooring)
i would say it should take a good fitter about a week to do (ask him how many days he is quoting for the work - it is essentially all labour) and that will tell you whether or not it is good value (It will depend on where you are - if you are in London then costs will probably be higher)0
