I don't think I said that the only requirement for interest was a monthly deposit of £500 or more. I was answering the specific question raised: are direct debits required for interest and the answer is no.

Well, yes, the best advice is always to read the T and Cs. But the poster came here with a specific question and s/he got an accurate answer to that specific question.

In fact, OP didn't just ask the specific question 'are direct direct debits required for interest'

He actually asked more than that.
