M&S Switch - Gift Card Question

Hi All

Looking at options for switching away from Yorkshire Bank when I receive the £250.

At the moment, it's between Natwest and M&S.

With M&S, I'd get access to a regular saver, which is a plus, as well as the £125 gift voucher.

I was wondering if it would be possible for me to sell the £125 gift card? Has anyone received this offer - is the gift card unique to you or can anyone use it?

Thanks

The card they send you is unique and has 3 sets of numbers on the reverse.

8 digits followed by 4 sets of 4 numbers then another 6 numbers.

It will also have a 5 digit pin number which you have to scrape off like a scratch card. This allows you to use the card online.

The middle 4 sets of 4 are the ones that you can use to confirm the balance on the card.

I buy cards off my brother who gets them from his employer as little rewards. I normally give him 85% of the value. He does not shop in M&S.

Only thing is that if you stay with the bank and pay in £1000 per month you will get another £5 added to the gift card each month.

You can get round this by going into any M&S and ask them to transfer to the money onto the gift card that has been sent to you to another card. You can then sell the new card and keep the original card with a Nil balance until money is added.

  • I did a switch just over a year ago. Anyone can use it  Good luck whichever you choose.
  • Hi,

Not actually tried it yet myself but I will be soon.

Also switching to M&S on 24th Jan, I’m planning on selling my £125 voucher on Zeek. Getting a new gift card sent out with the £5 top ups going on to the new card, when the card is maxxed out over the months I plan on selling that too on Zeek :)

From what I’ve seen you can use Zeek to sell your gift card for another gift card for a better value, but if you want actual cash, your £125 card will get you about £100 from when I last looked (think the prices change)

    Hope this helps.
  • Thanks for the replies everyone :-)

I think my plan of action will be to change to Natwest while the offer is there, and then switch to M&S once Natwest is done. The M&S offer has been there for a long time so hopefully it won't end anytime soon.

    Thanks everyone

Why either or, when you can have both?

The Natwest offer is very straightforward (though for some, me included, the actual opening process has been far from that:(). All you need is a 'spare' account to switch. If you don't already have one - why not open one?;)

Mainly because I've opened far too many accounts in the last year, both credit and bank accounts.. I'd like to take it easy for a little while :rotfl:

They are regularly traded on Ebay. The most recent sales of M&S £125 vouchers have been for £110.65, £117.50 and £114.99.
