Incorrect Information in MSE email regardining NatWest Switch Incentive

Options
In the latest MSE email it states

“When applying at NatWest*, you get a long account list - ensure you pick the 'Reward Account'”

This is incorrect as in Natwest’s Switch T&C’s it states the following

“apply for a Select, Reward, Reward Silver, Reward Platinum or Reward Black account (‘eligible account’) via natwest.com or through the NatWest mobile app between 10 January and 16 February 2018;“

Thus you can get the free current account without having to pay the monthly fee required on all the others.

  • I agree it’s slightly misleading but the email isn’t giving incorrect information exactly. The instruction to pick the reward account is given under a heading describing the reward account and promoting the cash back it offers on bills as well as the joining incentive.

I’m not sure if there’s a way to contact MSE to inform them - it might be worth doing if possible.

(Slightly useless post but I essentially read your post and initially disagreed and then decided the email could be a lot clearer - it would be easy for them to mention the other accounts are eligible for the joining incentive)

Youve taken something out of context.
New. BEST FOR BILL ACCOUNTS: Free £125 + 2% bills cashback. For the first time since 2009, NatWest is paying a switch bonus (£125) on many of its current accounts to new and existing customers. The standout is NatWest Reward* which, for a £2/mth fee, gets you 2% bills cashback on council tax, energy, broadband etc that you pay from the account by direct debit.

For average bills you'd earn £66/yr cashback after the fee, higher bills well over £100/yr. So for those with bigger bills it can beat HSBC in the first year alone (if you've a Santander mortgage, its 123 Lite account can beat NatWest on cashback).

Am I eligible for the free cash? When applying at NatWest*, you get a long account list - ensure you pick the 'Reward Account'. To get the cash you'll need to switch and log in to online or mobile banking by 16 Mar. Min pay-in is £1,500/mth, effectively a way of saying you need a salary of £21,650+ going in.

Existing NatWest cust? You can still get £125 if you switch another account into your qualifying NatWest one.

For those who dont plan on paying bills with the account then theyre probably better off not picking the 'best for bill accounts' in the top free cash accounts.
  • Can anyone explain if i chance bank accounts to Natwest if i will qualify by transferring the recommended amount into account monthly or do i have to have my pay, paid into the account to qualify.

    Regards Jason
  • The £1500 pay in can come from anywhere except from another NatWest account.
