some questions about ring doorbell

apologies if this should be in the DIY section but i wasn't sure.

Just wondering how can the doorbell be set up - in other words would you screw it in and connect it like a normal doorbell or just use some sticky tape or something to attach it to the wall?

also, my internet at home from sky is so-so, not terrible but nothing great, considering it is just a doorbell is my internet likely to stop it working?

Fix like normal to door or wall

It needs WiFi to stream video etc

We screwed our Ring doorbell to the brickwork outside. You download the app to your mobile phone, and Wi-Fi connection allows you to see who is at your door.


The doorbell rings on your app even when away from home, and (I believe) you can also speak to the caller.


You have to pay an annual fee to keep the videos.

We bought one last year. Tried it, sent it back.

The video was very very pixelated, which I guess was the poor wifi speed - at the time, we were with Sky ADSL.

Tempted to try again now we have Sky Fibre and are getting 70mb+ most of the time.

Totally wireless with a 1-year battery life. The company is owned by Amazon as well, so lots of good stuff can be coming down the line with it. Plus Amazon, who own AWS, really know their stuff so obviously a very good tech product

Both the company whose link I posted above a few backs and now Ring is owned by Amazon now.

The whole doorbell camera/front door/lock scene is going to get very interesting over the next few years
