Holiday Advice Please

Just wanted some advice regards holidays, we are looking to book before the end of the month.

We have 6 children so we usually (when we can afford it) book a villa with pool in the south of France and drive down (self cater), this tends to keep the cost down although it's still not exactly cheap! Budget is usually around £5-7k.

This year the budget is smaller, but hopefully enough to still go abroad, probably around the £4k mark including spending.

We are thinking about a hotel/flight deal in August as kids are getting older and we don't want to self cater, it always ends up feeling like no holiday as we have to cook and wash up etc, so half board/all inclusive or maybe eat out and go room only is what we're after.

The questions are specifically - what should we expect from the hotel, ie will the kids be bored or are there things to do, or do we need to get a hire car to visit local atractions. Kids want to go to a water park, scuba diving etc

What country is best? I think Spain looks good value but we like to do a bit of sightseeing and see the local culture.

Kids are aged 3, 13 x 2, 15 x2 and 17.

We've seen quite a few deals for £300-£600 pp for 10 days, the lower end room only upper end all inclusive. Problem with AI is kids are quite fussy about food (as are we!)

Thanks for any advice.

We always go self catering if we're on a package, but never actually do any apart from occasional breakfast and brews. But our typical package holiday would be Spain, Portugal, Greece or Cyprus where eating out is cheaper than here, and an awful lot cheaper than France.

Have a look at Centre Parks in France, Cheaper than the UK ones and lots to keep everyone occupied.

Thanks for comments so far, yes France was an eye opener regards price of food, even in the supermarkets.

Morocco seems good value but not sure how safe that is especially for 3 very blonde teenage girls? I've read conflicting reports, some say you shouldn't leave the hotel - is that correct?

Morocco will be fine as long as you all dress modestly when leaving the complex, I am off to Marrakech in a few days, lots there for adults but not sure about teens.
Perhaps Agadir would be better with a water park?
