If you owe any merchant money expect them to pursue you to pay them
A cancelled car insurance policy is bad news - it goes on your record and must be disclosed to any other insurers you approach for quotes.
Most online off the peg insurers generally won't quote with this in your history.
Do what you can to get the cancellation reversed0 -
There is a common theme with this company; they cancel your policy and keep your money. This happened to me today, they said I had a ccj, (I didn't know this) however this question was not asked on the comparison site directly. I received a notice of cancellation after six days, they said they will return £60 of my £247 deposit. Also any future insurance company will want to know if I have been refused or had a policy cancelled, this will probably make my insurance go up further. As a small self employed worker with an autistic child and a young family, these are the companies and challenges that can devastate your finances,
My point is why did they take my money first and then check for ccj's???? Answer is to keep my money, they will keep yours too. READ ALL OTHER REVIEWS OF THIS COMPANY. CANCELATION = keep YOUR MONEY. ombudsman must be contacted.0 -
Read the policy and statement of fact. Was this information listed as need to know on either? If so they are able to void if listed as a penalty or potential penalty provided they would not have offered cover otherwise.
Not reading what transferred to the main site isn't a valid defence, sadly. There should be more fall back on the comparison site for these things.
It is unusual for an insurer to screen for CCJs at the start of a policy. Normally they check when claiming as they will check the policy is valid and the facts presented were accurate. The reason is because you don't need to prove the risk or ownership to take out cover only when you intend to claim (there are dull reasons behind this). They haven't broken other rules by screening you it's just unusual.0
