which credit card next?

I have an egg blue (£3,250) & green (£2,750) which both running out of their 0/1.6% interest periods. I currently also have lloyds classic card with £440 @ 6.9% for the life of the balance, barclaycard platinum with 0% til August. I have a mint card with nothing on.

I now need a new 0% (or low interest) credit card to tide me over til my egg anniversary in September. I have a capitol one card 18 month leaflet which I'm thinking about applying for, but I am scared that they will knock me back or not give me a limit high enough, my credit rating does not seem too good at the moment (it used to be good but I moved from my parents to a flat - I have been here roughly a year & half but only on electoral roll since September I think - which I think is why - this is all I can see from my credit reports - unless they can now link me with my partner who has a default?).

Is there any other credit cards that I could apply for? Don't really want to be paying big balance transfer fees as I am trying to get out of debt.

    Skye,

Worth checking your credit rating with Zopa (free) or Experian/Equifax (not free but detailed).

Flat shouldn't be a problem unless you are in a 'high risk' postcode area.

More likely problem might be your debt to income ratio.

I'd suggest trying MBNA (virgin card) as their limits are normally fairly good. Might also be worth calling Mint and Barclaycard and reducing your limit or closing your account, since some providers score you on your available credit, whether or not you are actually using it.

If you get stuck Barclaycard might offer you their 5.9% BT rate which you can use until your anniversary offer.

    Good luck.

Smile :), it makes people wonder what you have been up to.

You've got Mint, so you'd probably be able to get Tesco [same group - RBS] without too much trouble. They may not give you a very large limit however, in my eperience.

But you really need to look for 0% for 9 months rather than 6 months. What about....

    Virgin [MBNA]
    M&S
Barclaycard [which you've already got!, so could switch to 6.9% lob!!]

I think maybe my postcode (my parents house was in a nicer area) and amount of credit might have something to do with. Might give tescos a go as my highest limit is with Mint and I have had no problems with them and I have had it for quite a while.
