It states in the terms and conditions that you have got to be seen to be using the account as your main current account... ie having your salary paid in each month.

I think its a great offer... £100 just for switching your account!! It also states that you have to use the RBS Switching Team to get the £100 incentive.

I can't see any flaws with this deal :)
  • I opened an account with Bank Scotland five months ago and they won't give me the £100 incentive. I have paid £1000 each month. The reason they give is because I didn't set up a direct debit for the £1000!!!! They have offered me £50 instead. I think it stinks and am very annoyed. I do not have a Halifax account and I am putting my money in each month. Should I take it up with the FSA or ombudsman..........

You have to deal with RBS staff, whilst very polite, I found to be somewhat useless. They messed up my last attempt with one of their £100 offers, and I don't give up easily.

  • I spoke to staff on four different occasions and eventually got put through to a customers officer where they told me I could only have £50 as a good will gesture because I had not set up a DD for my account and this was part of the deal. I have had a letter today to confirm their offer. I do not remember reading that; if I did not set up DD then I would not be eligible for the bank incentive. I do believe I have been tricked into opening an account and they didn't want to give the money. Is it worth asking the FSA to deal with it?

I think your talking about Bank of Scotland, rather than Royal Bank of Scotland.

One owns NatWest, the other owns Halifax.
