SEAT satnav maps
I have a new SEAT Leon and I've noticed the navigation system uses HERE maps. I was a bit surprised today to find it is missing new roads like the Raith underpass on the A725 and the new sections of M8 heading into Glasgow. The navigational data seems to be the most up to date version.
How long does it tend to take for new roads to be added to the SEAT system? I'm not that happy that roads that have been open for over 6 months dont show up on a brand new car's satnav.

I realised a few years ago that these built in sat navs are just not worth the hassle. As you have found out the maps are out of date before the car is built.
I wouldn't be happy.0 -
Just stick to TomTom on your phone.0

Been called HereWeGo for a while now, is it just here maps still on the cars nav?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I use google maps on my phone. Still a PITA that the build in satnav is so bad.0

But you do have the option of applying updates with most of them, so not much difference with off the shelf satnavs.
Yes, for a highly inflated price, whereas off the shelf satnavs now come with "lifetime" map updates included in the purchase price. That purchase price could be much cheaper than the cost of an update for those mediocre built in units. So a big difference.0 -

Quite a big difference. If you read and understood my original post you'd nitice these SEAT maps have not received an update for at least 7 or 8 months, probably longer.
TomTom update their maps every 3 months. Google maps is updated constantly.0 -
Not always and not usually for the first few years after purchase. I wouldn't call them all mediocre either, the one in mine using Garmin maps works very well indeed.
That's the thing it depends which maps they use. Renault use TomTom and are pretty good. Garmin arent bad either, but HERE maps dont impress me too much.0 -
You need to perform the updates yourself or ask your supplying dealership. Have you purchased "MapCare Update" as part of your purchase? Apparently its important but its doesn't say why. Doing it yourself seems a complicated procedure (TomTom & Garmin are easy peasy by comparison)
