Lloyd’s Bank Closed Account

Options
Just looking for some advice. Last week I went online and applied for a Lloyd’s bank classic account. I don’t have a good credit history as I got into debt in the past and ended up bankrupt.

Anyway they declined me for the account but said they would give me a basic account - I accepted.

Got send debit card and pin, and registered for online banking and requested activation code for that.

Then got 2 conflicting texts. The first ‘sorry we can’t open your account following further checks’. And the second ‘to activate your account please visit branch with your documents’. Then today got two separate letters with 2 different references on them saying that due to further checks they won’t allow me an account. Miffed, I called Lloyd’s today and they said very bluntly and in fact quite rudely that they won’t talk about it over the phone and that I had to go to branch. I asked if he meant I needed to take ID and the reply was: ‘yeah I’d take ID with you’.

Go to branch. They take my card and ask me to input pin. Then lady looks at her iPad and says yes hmm we aren’t able to give you an account. I asked why I’d been sent a card and pin and she said yes unfortunately we just can’t open an account for you.

!!!!!!?!

Ps nearest branch that was able to see me is 45 mins drive. Waste of time!

You checked your credit report? Seems like there could be some sort of marker on there!

To be honest if he has a CIFAS marker or other fraud or application checking marker that has prevented the account then it won't show up on his credit files. You will need to undertake a SAR to CIFAS and maybe National Hunter to check what data they have on you.

If you do a search on here you will see the process for getting a SAR and probably some more info just how important you get this sorted.

Some CIFAS markers show on your credit file, although I agree that the ones which would cause this scenario would not show
