M&S Bank

Hi I used to have a personal reserve account with M&S Bank - it's a bit like a flexible loan. I wrote to them querying the PPI as I honestly don't know why I would have requested it and following a telephone conversation with them last week, I have today received a letter from rejecting my PPI claim, but making an offer under Plevin of £1100.
Grounds for rejection are, amongst other things, that I checked the box wanting PPI. My circumstances then and now to be fair were that I get full salary six months sick pay and would have had a reasonable offer on redundancy. I never claimed under this policy even when I could have back in 2008. I have called them and asked for a copy of the application form which should have been enclosed with their letter.
I guess my question is, are M&S refuting claims on this basis and offering monies under Plevin because it is cheaper for them to do so?
Thanks.

No. They're refuting your claim because they do not believe you were mis sold.0
