Exactly, and neither do Citroen/warranty provider which is why wear and tear items aren't covered.
I think it shows how far we have strayed from fair consumer practice that people consider it reasonable that when buying a warranted car from a dealer, people shrug and say it is quite understandable. It is exactly that unknown history that people buy warranties for.
In a car supplied from the dealer with a well known design fault which fails prematurely, you ought at least to be able to lean on consumer legislation for a contribution as it is clear that the car is not of satisfactory quality.
Mind you, I have a mate who has a C1 and never spent any money on it until it misfired badly so he took it to a garage and the mechanic showed him the remnants of his spark plugs. He suggested 50,000 miles between services was pushing it a bit.0 -

Likely for a main dealer. Same ballpark with a VW, in the end local mechanic did it for £600.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
It would however be easy for the garage to show the clutch was functioning correctly when they sold the car. As a consumable part I don't think the OP's chances of getting this paid for are good.
But...... Definitely worth asking if the supplying dealer or Citroen will contribute, they can only say no!
And just because it was fine when op collected it and last few months doesn't mean it wasn't inherently faulty causing premature failure.0 -
Op push push push for then to sort it out. Spit your dummy out if you have to. Your car is very young so the clutch shouldn't be failing so soon at all!!
But do not agree to any work until they agree to cover it. Otherwise theyll dismantle it, then tell you they've inspected it and they won't cover it leaving you in a messy expensive dispute. As if you really end up paying for it yourself you will almost definitely have change from £500. Even if you don't you don't be forking out much over that.
Although I suppose a good result if you get nowhere at all would be if they covered 2/3s of the quoted price. The quoted price being so over inflated I wouldn't be surprised if they offered to cover some just to make themselves look good despite the stupid over inflated quote0
