Last month someone ran into my car - I wasn't in the car, my other half was driving (he's a named driver on my policy). My renewal is now due at the end of this month and because the claim is open/ongoing its shot up to nearly double what it was. I'm therefore shopping around for a cheaper quote which is a shame as Esure have been very good and I'd rather have stayed with them.
I understand I have to declare this claim as open/ongoing but do I do that when it asks for my details ie when it asks if I have had any claims in the last 5 years or do I attribute it when I give details of my named driver as he was the one in the car driving. I thought I had to attribute the claim to myself as its my policy but when I rang Hastings the guy on the phone said no, declare it under my named drivers details which didn't seem right? What say MSE?

Hastings advice is correct
As long as your other half remains on the policy to then you disclose it as part of his claim history.
If he is no longer to be covered then you disclose it.0
